Thanks, Timo! I never even heard of most of these bands - there are so many of them. I basically consider the festival a photo op. I like the music, of course, but it's my cameras who really want to go!
Thanks, Randy! MusikFest is a 10-day event, and is the largest free music festival in the US - and it's right in town! There are 15 stages featuring bands of all types from around the nation. There are street performers of all kinds from around the world too. The biggest stage, at SteelStacks, features headliners like Santana, Chicago, Live, Jethro Tull, etc. These big acts require tickets, but the smaller stages are all free. The band here just blew me away.
The Darling hydrant was a consideration for the Photo 3D Forum Rusty/Crusty Challenge. It looked fine, but I had already used a fire hydrant in an earlier challenge. Its color and roughness looked good here, I thought.
Thanks, Timo. From my very preliminary eBay search, Samsung NX primes are PRICEY!! The Nikon lens I mentioned above was only $140. Not cheap, but it's an older used lens. Works really good though.
I just noticed something in this shot I hadn't seen before...reflections in the glass behind her right hand. If you go to full screen mode, you can make out just how close she came to me. You can see her back, with her arm held out - and she's right in front of me. I was stooping slightly to get a straight-on shot of her face.
Yeah, a dud - bigly. I read online that a new trend in wedding photos is to use smoke bombs to make an eerie effect - outdoor shots obviously. That was the goal here. But I never made it past the 50 yard line.
Patience makes for great pictures though, doesn't it ?
;-)
Nice shot with great DOF!
Unfortunately I've never seen one on my property down here, but definitely looks like a Fritillary. Hard to tell from this pair which exact species though, best candidates would be Eastern Meadow, Aphrodite, or Great Spangled.
