So you admit to being "the copywrite police"...what gives you that right? Be friendly........and not irritating...see, the photo3d group has some unfriendly and irritating members...try not to be one of those...please....thanks. :o) As for me I don't like to be bullied...but I don't hate anyone....and I'm a friendly person. How about you, my friend?
I'm glad you're not one of the "hateful and rude ones".....good for you! I think I'm going to put up some more "good stuff" on my phereo...for you to enjoy....try to enjoy them...and not worry so much....ok? :o)
Cardboarding is an easily recognized stereo defect. Until you can back up you claim of "99.99%" don't care, only YOU don't care.
As for modifying the image owned by others, the situation is EXACTLY the same as finding you car or home vandalized (modified) by gang signs painted all over it. How would YOU feel about that?
Further you are intentionally violating Phereo's terms of service, which I assume you did not bother to read. See below;
"7.2 You represent and warrant that: (i) you own the Content posted by you on or through the Phereo Services or otherwise have the right to grant the license set forth in this section, (ii) the posting and use of your Content on or through the Phereo Services does not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contract rights, intellectual property rights or any other rights of any person, and (iii) the posting of your Content on the Site does not result in a breach of contract between you and a third party. You agree to pay for all royalties, fees, and any other monies owing any person by reason of Content you post on or through the Phereo Services."
And...to further expose the obtuseness of your judgements and words.....I just checked my copy of the Rockwell poster and mosaic.......that I bought many years ago at the United Nations in New York City...it says "Copyrite 1999 by The United Nations". It makes no sense to say or believe that it a probability that The UN is going to spend thousands of dollars to sue me for a $10 poster that I show to everyone who enters my house....and am showing free to people on Phereo.....that's insane. And, I'm sure that The UN who fosters "The Golden Rule" on it's premises with this poster........is NOT very concerned...... if it is seen by the public at The UN in NYC...or in my house.....or that my copy is seen on a free site like Phereo. Come on my friend....stop worrying people with your fantasies of doom and gloom.
And I hope someday some of the silly people on Photo3D wake up to fact that it is very rude to cut anyone off from communication. Thanks for passing that on...if you'd be so kind.
But, please stop the negativity......Norman Rockwell has a museum and this poster is seen and photos taken of it by the thousands at The UN in New York. And you feel some insane need to "protect" it and keep it from being seen on Phereo. That is insane. And as for "cardboarding"....I tried to explain why your "deep concern" about it is silly...but you persist in the face of common sense-----MOST PEOPLE...MAYBE 99.99% OF THE PEOPLE ON THE EARTH ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH "CARDBOARDING"....in fact they LIKE IT....as I do....so please stop criticizing me and them. Thanks...
It's a full stereo photo. The subjects are of such distance and the shadow detail is so blocked that roundness and solidity are somewhat more difficult to discern, but it IS there if you examine it closely. An HTC EVO 3D was used. The FUJI W3 would have done much better, IMO.
The best camera is the one you have at the moment!
As to the "cause of 3D for the masses", you only have YOUR opinion on that matter (unless you can back that statement up with study data). I am absolutely CERTAIN that if a true stereo photo and a "converted" photo made from one side showing cardboarding (such as the boy in tire) were compared by a sample population of well-sighted stereo-capable viewers, they would overwhelmingly chose the true pair as most realistic and more satisfying. Cardboarding can actually deter the enjoyment of stereophotography, IMO. Why bother with cardboarding, when it is so easy to use true stereo?
Even though I respect your opinion and your right to dissent....I also have a right to dissent. For me....for me....to demand "perfection" as in "cardboarding is awful".....demanding that type of perfections harms the cause of 3D for the masses. The masses aren't so caring...all they, we want is "an approximation" of 3D and are happy with that...so why not let them/us be happy and satisfied...even if there is some "cardboarding". It's the attitude that "perfection is the only good" that discourages many people to go back to 2D......so I suggest you try to be a wee bit more forgiving in your 3D....and with other "foibles" of your fellow humans.
Thanx.
Why bother with a significant "compromise", when it can be expressed so easily in full solidity and roundness? There might be some value if my hand/wrist were "cardboarded" but MUCH less value than full stereo...
Sorry, I cannot "forgive" cardboarding. The purpose and goal of stereophotography it to show the scene in it's full glory of solid volume and roundness (hence the word, "stereo"). It takes a lot of hard craft to do a good 2D-3D conversion. To me, cardboarding is a detriment to the 2D image, as it really appears the boy is a flat cutout placed in a tire. Unless, of course, the original subject WAS a flat photo cutout of a boy...
This Bird is shown in true stereoscopic form, DOWN TO EACH AND EVERY FEATHER! Can you not see the bird has volume and rounding? If not, you need to become cognizant of a lack of fine stereoscopic vision on your part ("just kidding").
It was captured with an inexpensive HTC EVO 3D two-lensed stereoscopic phone. You own a FUJI W3, no? Why not just use and post what you capture with that, rather than bothering with poor quality (ie, cheap) conversions? I use a W3 as well, and have obtained excellent success upon recognizing what it takes to get good results from it.
CARDBOARDING OF THE BOY....WELL, WHAT ABOUT THIS BIRD???....OK...JUST BEING SILLY...NO CARDBOARDING OF THE BIRD....BUT FOR THE BOY.....I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN. WHEN I WIN THE LOTERY I'LL PAY WILLIAM $120 EACH TO DO BETTER...BUT UNTIL THEN...I THINK I CAN LIVE WITH "CARDBOARDING" BECAUSE...WELL....I THINK THAT IS BETTER, TO ME, IN 3D THAN IN 2D. YOU AND OTHERS MAY AND PROBABLY WILL DIFFER. UNLESS, OF COURSE, SOME NICE PERSON WANTS TO CONVERT THE PHOTO FOR ME FREE....HINT..HINT...HINT??? (JUST JOKING.....)
